Attraction Marketing - How It can Change your Life

"First comes thought; then organization of that thought into ideas and plans; then transformation of those plans into reality. The beginning, as you will observe, is in your imagination."

- Napoleon Hill

What is Attraction Marketing?

What is Attraction Marketing? How does it fit into your home based business start up planning?

Attraction marketing is about adopting and nurturing a customer for life, not just making a fast buck or a quick sale. It's about aligning your business with perfectly matched clients and customers and providing them with a pleasurable and high-value experience dealing with your company. With attraction marketing, you lead, you don’t sell.

The concept? Decide what contribution you want to make in the lives of your clients and customers. Whether your business sells products or services makes no difference. The important thing is to start with a clear intention to provide the level of quality and service that inspires your customer’s repeat business and referrals; it’s this passion and enthusiasm that will provide the magnet that will attract your customers.

Always remember: People love buying but they hate being sold.

Creating 'Attraction Marketing' Content for your Website

Most of us are not writers....John Grisham is a writer, Stephen King is a writer....Danielle Steele is a writer. Writers craft fiction - stories with power and feeling - that's the world of creative writing.

But when you're writing for your home business, you're writing in 'persuasion' mode.

You're a natural-born persuader - think of all the people you persuade every day....your kids, your spouse, your customers, your suppliers.

Writing persuasively is a bit trickier because you don't have a one-on-one relationship with the 'persuadee', but believe me, it's worth the time and effort to develop the know-how.

BUT...if you just don't have the time to devote to writing the content for your website, you have the option of hiring a writer. I've been both a writer and a consumer of freelance services on elance.com and guru.com and they're good destinations if you need some help without breaking the bank. (The industry standard is to pay no more than $10-$15 per article (for word counts of 400-800 words).

Some tips to streamline the process and get good results:

1. I suggest hiring North American freelancers - offshore writers are often the lowest bidders, but they usually don't do well with the language. If you're trying to save time, you don't want to spend tons of time editing or what's the point?

2. Be sure to take the time to carefully frame your requirements; if the assignment isn't clear, you'll waste time and get a poor result. I would give links to articles you find on the net on related topics, etc. as a guide. You'll find that most of these people will work hard for you - they want to give you a great product to earn a good review (or at least avoid getting a bad review). Be fair - don't penalize them if you didn't give good instructions.

3. To make your selection, read the feedback that a particular writer has received from previous work; also, do a test with several providers to see who does the best work before you commit to ordering multiple articles.

How Attraction Marketing has Turbo-charged My Business

I give 100% credit for the solid growth of my home business to the concept of attraction marketing.

Back in the 90’s when I was selling Real Estate, I participated in a number of motivational and training seminars based on the work of Tony Robbins and Brian Tracy. The concept is that human experience is governed by Universal Laws, one of which is known as the Law of Attraction. Based on the principle that ‘like attracts like’, the Law of Attraction is considered to be the most powerful law in the universe. It says that you are a human magnet, attracting what you focus on – essentially, what you focus on is what will come to you, whether wanted or unwanted.

Hmm. Well to some extent, I’m a believer. For example, if I’m all dressed up looking good and feeling great, I know I put out a different energy than when I’m not. Does that make a difference to how people relate to me, absolutely. Does that mean I’m likely to get better results, yes.

But what about all the people who think positive and work like mad and they don’t really get anywhere (we all know some of them)? How about the nasty people who are wildly successful?

Ultimately, I decided the ‘principle’ was too abstract to rely on and I forgot about it – until about a year ago when I stumbled on a new business building methodology they were calling Attraction Marketing.

Attraction marketing is about ‘pre-selling'.

‘Pre-selling’ means that you build a relationship with your potential customer, providing a value to them so that ultimately they are ready to do business with you. In the world of the Internet, this value is information.

What a light bulb moment that was for me!

I had built a successful Real Estate practice based on repeat business and referrals. By the time I decided to hang up my spurs (read: burnt out!), I wasn’t actively soliciting new business anymore; I could hardly keep up with looking after my established client base. What I learned: develop credibility as a trusted adviser - someone who can be relied on to give great information and good guidance - and you never have to ‘sell’ again. When I read about Attraction Marketing online, I realized, “Wow, this is exactly the same thing!”

Think about it: your home business site visitors aren’t there because they’ve been looking for you and your home business. They’re there looking for information they need to answer a question or solve a problem. Give them the information they want and they may be interested in doing business with you.

Once I knew the direction I wanted to take my own home business, my question was ‘how?’ After a few weeks of research, I was overwhelmed. I could figure out who seemed to know what they were talking about (a minority), and I saw a common thread on how they were doing it, but the mechanics were completely mysterious to me. What I needed – a systematic building block approach designed for newbies.

That’s when the going got tough.

I signed up at Renegade University because I felt they could provide what I needed. The problem was that, while excellent, their system was too advanced for me at that point, so I was back to the drawing board.

Fortunately I found SiteBuildIt.

At first I had a hard time wrapping my head around the whole thing but I spent about a week studying what they do and how they do it, and I was hooked. The SiteBuildIt system is based on Attraction Marketing and is built on how the Internet works (there are no accidents online), so if you build a site based on how humans search and how the search engines search, it will be found.

Simple? Yes. Easy? Not so much. But week by week, as your site grows your business snowballs - I highly recommend it.
